Skilken Gold, Sheetz’s exclusive real estate developer for Central Ohio, announced today that the company has closed on the purchase of the approximately 4.6-acre parcel at 700 Sunbury Road, the site of the former Delaware Marine in Delaware, Ohio. Sheetz is the nationally acclaimed restaurant and convenience chain, based in Claysburg, Pennsylvania.
Sheetz will build the approximately 6,000-square-foot restaurant and convenience store at the Sunbury Road site, which will entail razing the Delaware Marine, as well as the building adjacent to it, a former tobacco shop. The store is projected to be open in early 2021.
The location will feature Sheetz’s impressive array of award-winning Made-to-Order (M-T-O®) and MADE-TO-GO® menu selections, indoor retail and dining space, an outdoor patio, an espresso bar, a touchpad-based drive-thru and four fueling stations with eight gas pumps.

Sheetz announced its entry into the Central Ohio market on November 30, 2019. Land has since been purchased for an Obetz location on the northeast corner of Alum Creek Drive and Toy Road. While the number and locations of additional stores have not yet been announced, Gold says that sites have been placed under contract with leases signed by Sheetz and that Skilken Gold is locating and verifying others to achieve Sheetz’s aggressive market penetration goals.
Skilken Gold is also working with Sheetz in Pennsylvania.
